Hello, Everyone.

The wedding week is here – and we are looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Here is some information to help you orient to Boulder County, the events taking place, and the big day.

Boulder County

If you’ve never been to Boulder or Boulder County – you are in for a treat!

It’s a beautiful place with striking mountain vistas, fantastic walking and biking trails, beautiful rural lands, and great microbreweries and cideries.

We hope you take some time to experience the area while you’re here. Visit Boulder has good recommendations for whatever you’re interested in, and we are happy to provide a suggestion– just ask!

Friday Events

The week’s weather in Boulder County and in Jamestown, where the wedding will be held, is typical spring in Colorado! Rain, Snow and 65 degree weather are all predicted.

Friday’s weather looks great – sunny and 65-degrees. That’s great because we are hosting two events: a walk or hike and a picnic.

The walk and hike events begin at 10am and will be done by 1pm, with refreshments available afterwards. If you’re in town and want to come along but haven’t signed up yet, please let us know so we look for you.

1. Historic Walking Tour of Pearl Street. Meet on Pearl Street between 13th and 14th streets, in front of the Boulder County building.

Boulder began as a supply town for gold miners and Pearl Street was the main road from the plains up into the mountains, as well as the commercial city center for 100 years. It was first established in the 1860s and thought to be named after the wife of one of the city founders. In 1977, the Pearl Street pedestrian mall was dedicated purely to foot traffic. A volunteer from Historic Boulder will lead us on a 90 minute walking tour pointing out important historic buildings, tell stories of events, and explain how historic preservation contributes to the Mall’s success.

2. Eldorado Canyon State Park Hike. Meet at Tony’s house: 2351 La Mesa Dr., Boulder, CO 80303

Rattlesnake Gulch Loop:

A moderately difficult trail leading 1.4 miles (one way) past spectacular views of the canyon and eastern plains to the remains of historic Crags hotel, 600 feet above the trailhead. Built in 1908, the hotel was accessed via an inclined railway from the canyon floor until it burned down in 1913.

The trail continues as a .8 mile loop as it travels to a view of the Continental Divide and the railroad tracks, 1,200 feet above the trailhead. The trail is 1.4 miles to the ruins and another .8 mile for the loop, making the total roundtrip distance about 3.6 miles. There are more moderate hikes in the same area if Rattlesnake is too “venomous”.

Friday evening we are hosting a picnic at the East shelter in Waneka Park starting at 4pm. We will be serving tamales (vegan options included), salads, and such. Beer, wine, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. If the weather changes, join us at our house a block away for a cozy get together: 2006 South Fork Trail, Lafayette, CO 80026. Look for a purple house.
